Dr. Macedo is a Surgical Oncologist and the Chief of Surgical Oncology at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital. He became a surgical oncologist at the University of Miami School of Medicine in 2019. Prior to obtaining this role, he was general surgery resident at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine from 2012 to 2017. My approach to cancer is not only professional, it’s personal. I know how difficult it can be to understand with the diagnosis of cancer and my drive is to provide my best knowledge and technical skills to make the patient comfortable and motivated to fight against it. I treat every patient as I would do a my family member and I strive to deliver the best care possible in a multidisciplinary method that fosters shared decision-making, empowerment and compassion with patients and their families.

Research is critically important to me, and I’ve participated several of published studies. My research focuses on better understanding the factors associated with prognosis and staging in Hepato-pancreato-biliary and gastrointestinal cancers.
